Meet Dr Alyssa Chan

Dr Alyssa Chan | Perth CBD, WA | Central City Chiropractic

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I am a chiropractor who has treated patients of all ages and all walks of life. In my past, I have volunteered on chiropractic trips treating people in the impoverished community of Siliguri, India in 2014 (as a part of “Hands-On India”), as well as in rural parts of Western Australia such as Tom Price and Paraburdoo in 2015. I believe everyone can benefit from the effects of Chiropractic treatment but one must be open to change for the better. As a Chiropractor working within the heart of the city, I naturally love to see and treat office workers with stubborn neck, mid-back, and low back pain, and educate them in the importance of preventative spinal care.

As a Chiropractic patient myself who still continues to receive regular treatment to this day, I understand the natural habits that people unconsciously revert to during sustained seated positions. As a creative individual, I would often sit for hours in one position hunched over on the floor writing, typing, reading, playing the guitar, or hand-stitching clothes. I believe this is why I can relate to office workers a lot and thoroughly enjoy treating them because I understand the stresses and impact these sustained postures can have on both the body and mind.

My Chiropractic vision is one that focuses on holistic health care and patient-centred approaches to treatment. I enjoy thorough discussions with my patients regarding their wants and needs, as well as their expectations around their treatment plan. I will always strive to ensure that my patient receives the best treatment I can provide. I would describe my treatment style to be gentle and combined with modalities such as the following: Diversified Technique, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), manual adjustments, mobilisations, Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) using a STMfish, drop piece, activator, biomechanical blocking, and soft tissue therapy.

Being a Chiropractor is a fulfilling job as it enables me to combine my love of human biology with my caring nature. Outside of my job, I also like to embrace the creative and adventurous side of my personality. I am a huge music geek and enjoy listening to music in the indie/alternative rock/synthwave genres. I love to play the guitar and sing covers of my favourite songs, design and create things by hand (such as clothes and jewellery), watch horror films, go on spontaneous road trips and travel. I am also a sports fanatic and enjoy watching (and used to play) soccer and tennis, as well as watching ice hockey.

If any of what you’ve just read about me made you feel a connection, then I’d love to help. I look forward to meeting you.
